‘The holistic side to patient care has always been my main priority when caring for those with eye disease. With my background in diabetic eye disease assessment, I am experience in supporting those attending our service with impaired vision, ensuring they are comfortable throughout their visit.’
Hayley Chambers
Hayley joins Modality with a wealth of experience both in diabetic eye disease screening and photographic assessment, as well as medical imaging. After achieving a BSc in Biochemistry and Biology from Keele, Hayley took an interest in diabetic eye disease and began her first clinical role as a Diabetic Retinopathy Screener and Grader for the NHS in 2010. During her 6 years in this role, she progressed to a training position and was lucky enough to train new diabetic eye screeners and graders as part of a charity project in Ethiopia.
In 2017 Hayley joined the ophthalmic imaging department at Wolverhampton Eye Infirmary. Here she honed her expertise in medical imaging, broadening her portfolio of skills in this area. With a growing team at WEI, she also continued to develop her skills in education by training a number of staff during her time there.
Hayley joined Modality in November 2021 in her current role as Senior Ophthalmic Technician. With her prior experience in medical imaging, her expertise has been invaluable as our service has grown and new technology offered. She has a key role in our general day-to-day running of the service as clinic manager.
Alongside her work in clinical practise, Hayley has continued to work in the diabetic eyecare service, grading images for a diabetic eye screening provider based in Ireland.
